MEET THE FAMOUS ERISKAY PONIES

Recently DNA'd (1970's) and discovered to be a totally seperate, native breed of the Western Isles.

The Eriskay Pony, as it is now known, is recognised as a seperate breed and is also the last living remnant of the original Native Scottish Pony.

The Eriskay Pony is currently listed as critically endangered with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.

The Eriskay Ponies were preserved in their natural enviroment and saved from extinction by the dedicated people of Eriskay until outside influences threatened the future of their precious ponies with near extinction.

These ponies are calm, gentle and good natured equines who thrive by living in their natural environment and living in the relative wild of the hills of Eriskay with little human intervention.
